The Shoals Center is a For-Purpose, not-for-profit project of Cut The Crap Parenting.
In an effort to make alternative education accessible to as many people as possible,
The Shoals Center aims to be a revenue-neutral business where the focus is on people,
not things.
At The Shoals Center, we believe that if a person's basic (physical, emotional, and social)
needs are met, they can be trusted to learn.
We honor ourselves, our neighbors, and our planet by focusing on
clean foods, clear boundaries, respectful communication, and less stuff.
Ages 7+

On Traveling Tuesdays, people learn *about* the world by being *in* the world. Primarily relying on WAVE Transit buses for transportation, the group visits local natural resources, cultural centers, and businesses.
The 6 hours consist of 90-120 minutes of programming with the rest of the time allocated to travel, games, arts & crafts, and outside time.
On the registration form, please indicate desired date(s).
Come experience the magic of The Shoals Center!
Build, pretend, play board games, sit and read in the quiet room, create art, play in the club house, swing on the rope swings, climb our magic tree....
Thursdays are for everyone!
Don’t just be a “babysitter.”
Acquire the knowledge and practice the skills required to be an emotionally-intelligent and respectful caregiver with a toolbox of engaging activities and other resources.
This training course consists of:
Let The Shoals Center be your child's home-away-from-home this summer.
Monthly rates are structured to help facilitate a consistent friend group in a child-led, nature-inspired environment with lots of outside time, and facilitated by respectful caregivers.
While activities will be themed each week, The Shoals Center holds true to its belief that children need unstructured time to "just be." Send extra clothes if your child likes to get dirty!
Wild Wednesdays are facilitated by Kathryn Sisler Waple and facilitate the learning and application of practical life skills for people ages 8 through adult.
Each week's activities, based on the above topics, will be tailored to the registered participants and the works-in-progress. Please inquire for people under age 8. Meetings will be held at The Little Yellow House. Field trips possible.
